On a cold dark night in March the 16th ( thats us) organised a district night activity ‘Torchlight Challenge’.
We had 80 scouts walking in 19 teams from 10 troops, with 13 adults walking. 8 teams walked without adults.
We had about 50 adults and Young Leaders helping run the event.
It started and ended on time.
Â
What did the scouts do in addition to walking 7 miles in the dark?
They were challenged, in 3 minutes, Â to:
Light a fire.
Hit faces of Wolves with golf balls.
Put a patient in the recovery position.
Follow a rope trail without a torch.
Follow a ‘glow-sticks’ trail.
Lift a team member over a low branch.
Remember names to faces they had been shown.
Answer quizzes on Scouting knowledge, Uganda and General Knowledge.
We entered 4 teams of our own, and won ( of course) . Thanks to all of our leaders and Young Leaders for helping make this such a great evening for so many kids and their leaders.
