So, yesterday our run of successful trips took a knock when two scouts managed to slip the YLs who were ‘tracking’ them and managed to arrive at the wrong church with a spire. Sadly, we had decided to take the train to Dorking and so, there we were sitting in the porch of Ranmoor Church high up on the downs, while Jade and Sam were arriving at Dorking church down in the valley. Josh and Ricky set-off to recover them and we re-grouped to go to the stepping stones, climb Box Hill and cook dampers before taking the train back to Waterloo. Thank goodness for mobile phones and sensible scouts who have learned not to panic when confronted with a bit of a disaster.
